Navigate regulations. Strengthen compliance
Portfolio Highlight
Legal cases are increasingly taking a digital dimension: an e-mail threat at the heart of a commercial litigation, a log entry in financial investigations, a device timeline in an insider-related investigation, a transaction record being scrutinised as part of regulatory-backed investigations, and computer-generated records at the centre of criminal prosecutions. These and many instances where the Bureau is called upon to support legal counsel, corporate lawyers, prosecutors and adjudicating bodies in administering justice, whether corporate, civil or criminal.
We give counsel, courts, regulators, insurers and corporate legal teams the technical foundation their matters require. From the first preservation step through to expert testimony, we ensure the technical record is sound, defensible and intelligible to a non-technical decision-maker. As part of our legal compliance services, we also prepare clients in advance so that breach-notification and disclosure obligations are met with precision. Where insurance coverage applies, we support policy and coverage review and substantiate claims with forensic evidence. Furthermore, we advise our clients, particularly on their obligations under cybersecurity and data protection legislation in their operating jurisdictions.
Working across common-law, civil-law and mixed jurisdictions is routine for us, and we are explicit about what changes between them: the admissibility threshold, the expert's duty, the disclosure obligation and the route by which evidence held abroad can properly be obtained, through available legal means.
External counsel and lawyers requiring an independent technical expert. In-house legal teams managing litigations, investigations, and regulatory filings/correspondence. Defence lawyers requiring technical experts as part of the team to provide legal representation to their clients. Courts, tribunals, and legal panels or committees that requires third-party-appointed experts. Cybersecurity and data protection regulators requiring independent technical examination. Insurers and underwriters assessing cyber claims. Prosecutors and judicial officers handling cyber-enabled offences. Organisations that want their legal and compliance readiness tested before an incident or a regulatory audit.
Our first conversation with the client or counsel is about the issues in dispute and the evidential standard that applies, because those determine the method. Where privilege is available, we are instructed accordingly and structure our work to preserve it.
Preservation is treated as irreversible and is therefore done first and properly, with contemporaneous documentation. Scope is kept proportionate, as we understand over-collection generates cost and disclosure risks, while under-collection invites an adverse inference, and we advise explicitly on where that line sits.
Our reporting states the instructions, methodology, materials examined, findings, limitations and the basis of every opinion, with the reasoning traceable end to end, and with our experts available and involved through pre-trial meetings and cross-examination stages. We engage our clients, review their operations and advise on and support their compliance with relevant cybersecurity and data protection regulations.
These are some of the outcomes and values realised for our clients through the delivery of our Legal Support & Compliance Services:
