Evidence that withstands scrutiny. Response that limits the damage.
Portfolio Highlight
When a breach occurs, two issues are at stake: the speed that limits the damage from the incident and the discipline and the approach that keeps the evidence admissible. With the wrong approach, you destroy the record, but when you also move too slow and carefully, the intruder may persist and cause further damage. Our Digital Forensics and Incident Response practice is built to hold both, which is why our incident responders and our forensic examiners work as one team rather than two.
Work is conducted from an accredited forensics laboratory, under a documented chain of custody, to standards that survive cross-examination in court and any challenge by a regulator or a defense lawyer. That accreditation is particularly important in cross-border matters, where evidence gathered in one jurisdiction must be relied on in another.
For institutions building the capability themselves, we advise, design and commission the laboratory.
Security and IT teams facing an active incident or an unexplained anomaly. In-house legal and compliance functions conducting internal investigations, whistleblower matters or employee misconduct cases. External counsel who needs a technically sound evidential record. Law enforcement and prosecutors handling cyber-dependent or cyber-enabled crimes. Regulators and supervisory authorities requiring independent technical examination. Insurers validating a claim. Institutions establishing their own forensic capability, including national and regional authorities and universities.
Our Retainer clients across the Bureau’s regional operational hubs receive an agreed response timeframe, a designated focal lead and a pre-approved playbook, which removes the procurement delays that can add additional costs to organisations. For an emergency engagement, we mobilise remotely within hours and on site as the matter requires.
The first act in every case is preservation. We image and hash before we analyse, record every handling step and maintain custody documentation from seizure to disposal. We conduct analysis on validated tooling by certified examiners, with significant findings independently reviewed and quality assured before release. Reporting is written in two registers deliberately: a technical appendix for engineers, and a narrative that a judge, non-technical Board Member or an Independent Reviewer can follow without a technical translator. Where a matter may become contentious, we scope the engagement under legal privilege from the outset, in consultation with your counsel.
After recovery we run a structured lessons-learned review and convert it into concrete improvements and recommendations, so the same route is closed before the next attempt.
